New idea for my food blog

I'm going to start menu planning each week. And this is the place where I'm going to do it, even though I have no readers on this particular blog. It's mostly just for me instead of doing it on paper and losing the paper.

So here's for this week:
Tuesday
B - Green smoothies
L - Green lemonade + pb&j on sprouted grain bread
D - Chicken and mashed potatoes (with sautéed green beans or zucchini if I can get them from my mom's garden and baby tomatoes)

Wednesday
B - Omelets with heirloom tomatoes and avocado
L - Tuna sandwhiches
D - Shells and white cheddar with steamed broccoli (before youth group)

Thursday
B - Cereal with blueberries or blackberries, bananas
L - Corn dogs
D - Spaghetti with steamed veggies (broccoli, green beans, etc.) and small spinach salad
Dessert (with Ryan F.) - Apple (or blackberry if I can find some) pie and vanilla ice cream

Friday
B - Green Smoothie
L - PB & J on sprouted grain bread, peaches
D - Soup of some kind

Saturday
B - Whole grain pancakes with blueberries and maple syrup
L - Bean burritos
D - Chicken Curry

Oops!

I've been slacking on my food log! I don't think anyone reads them anyway.

Yesterday I had:
1 banana
1 apricot
1 quart green juice - romaine, spinach, cabbage (makes it kind of bitter, or I had too much lemon?), lemon juice, apple
1 Chocolate coconut Lara bar
Tuna melts (very bad, but we were very hungry!)
Popcorn

I started out well, but went downhill from there.

May 21

Yesterday was my niece's first birthday, so I ate a little worse than usual. I had:

A banana
2 scrambled eggs
A BLT sandwhich
A small-ish piece of blueberry muffin-cake with vanilla ice cream
Bowl of cereal (We were in a hurry to get to youth group)
A little bit of vanilla ice cream at youth group
Stove top popped popcorn with himalayan crystal salt

Oh my goodness, I just realized that I had almost no vegetables yesterday, aside from on my BLT. I need more vegetables!!

May 20

Today I ate:
1 pint green smoothie - spinach, banana, strawberries, peaches, and vitamineral green powder
1 quart green juice - romaine, spinach, cabbage, celery, apple, lemon juice
Small handful of walnuts
Banana
Homemade fresh organic hamburger with spinach and tomato
Fresh fruit juice - I blended up cantaloupe, pineapple, an orange, and 1/2 a banana - delicious!
A little bit of stove top popcorn with himalayan crystal salt

May 19

1 bowl of raisin bran cereal with milk
Pico de gallo (lots of it) with tortilla chips
Home made skirt steak fajitas in flour tortillas with pico de gallo - delicious

I think I had more to eat yesterday, but I honestly don't remember what.

May 18

Bad day yesterday. I had:

1 pint green smoothie (more of a purplish-brown smoothie with all of the blueberries) - spinach, strawberries, peaches, blueberries, and vitamineral green powder
1 raw chocolate coconut macaroon
Kettle chips
Grilled cheese bagel (we ran out of bread) and tomato soup
Chocolate ice cream (not the healthy kind)

Like I said, bad day. And now I'm hungry so I'll have green juice or a green smoothie or something. Hopefully today will be better. I did so well at our famine with all of the juice and stuff, but then I ate terrible afterward and have kept eating terrible! Ah, the vicious cycle.

5/17

Today I ate:
1 quart green lemonade - spinach, celery, romaine, cabbage, apple, lemon juice
1 pint Orange/apple/pineapple juice
At 2:00 we broke our fast and I had
1 banana
rice and beans on corn tortillas with pico de gallo
For dinner we went to an international dinner with one of our students (an exchange student from Switzerland) so I had a bunch of very unhealthy food from other countries. It included things like pasta with lots of cheese and meat, sausage from Germany, Swiss cheese and delicious bread, and lots of desserts like linzer torte and fried bananas. It was yummy, but I felt terrible afterward!

May 15 and 16

Yesterday was a great day. I had:

1 piece raw chocolate cake - yum
2 bananas
1 pint green smoothie with spinach, strawberries, banana, and peaches
1 Quart Green Lemonade
2 fresh veggie burritos - whole wheat tortillas, tomato, avocado, and romaine - delicious!

Today is the beginning of our 30-hour famine. I had to finish solid food at 8 am and then juice! So I had (or will have, I'm not done yet but this is what is planned):

Handful of cashews
1 banana
1 quart green juice - romaine, spinach, celery, parsley, kale, apple, lemon juice
1 quart green juice - romaine, spinach, celery, apple, lemon juice
Still to drink:
1 quart watermelon juice
1 quart green juice - romaine, spinach, celery, apple, lemon juice

Yesterday's fare

Apparently they thought that my new food journal blog was SPAM!! I don't know why. So they had to review it before I could post anymore, which is why I didn't post yesterday. But here's what I had to eat yesterday. Not a super good day, but not too horrific.

1 Quart Green Lemonade
Small handful of walnuts
This is where it gets not so good: Hamburger and fries at In-N-Out
Sorry, it was In-N-Out! I couldn't resist!! Besides, it's like one of the most healthy fast food places you can eat at.
For dinner I had 1 big slice of VERY veggie pizza with lots of tomatoes, artichoke hearts, olives, peppers, and tons of other yummy things. Not raw, but not that bad.
Raw chocolate dream cake (1 1/2 slices) - very good for you and very rich and delicious!
A tiny bit of vanilla ice cream, seriously like half a bite

Today's Food

So today I didn't do that great, unfortunately. But here's what I ate:

Breakfast quesadilla (Andy's mom was in town so we went out for breakfast) with a tortilla, cheese, and lots of veggies
Green lemonade with kale added for lunch
Two raw chocolate macaroons
Here's where I didn't do so well: chips (Kettle brand natural with no trans fats) and popcorn (stovetop popped with a tiny bit of vegetable oil and himalayan crystal salt - the good stuff)

I didn't really have dinner tonight, I was too tired (probably because I ate bad and didn't exercise). I find that if I eat super good food like a green smoothie or especially green juice for breakfast I tend to have lots of energy and feel good all day. Maybe tomorrow...

Welcome to my food blog

I have decided that for me to be more accountable with what I eat, I'm going to have to make it public. Oftentimes I'll eat not good food because no one will know about it and it's my little secret. No more! I will hence forth try to blog every night (or morning the day after) on what I eat and how I've exercised. I've been not very good at exercising lately also. So here's to accountability. I will start with today, which was not an exceptionally good day. I will also include recipes when they might be of interest.

Today I had:
1 quart green lemonade (juice of romaine, celery, spinach, 1 apple, 1 lemon) - this is delicious and VERY nutritious, by the way.
Very spicy green curry with brown rice and chicken (with a few veggies thrown in)
Home-made hamburger from organic local beef (it was good, but now I feel yuck!) on a whole wheat bun with tomato and lettuce
Romaine and cilantro salad with raw olive oil/cashew/lime juice/agave/salt dressing
Raw chocolate coconut macaroons - very, very delicious. The recipe is on happyfoody.com.
